You can tell a huge difference between pools that have had proper maintenance over the years, and which have been neglected. Proper maintenance will give you many years of use, while neglect will cost you the use of the pool, as well as high costs of repair or replacements. Here are some tips for maintaining your swimming pool:
Regular Cleaning
- Skim the pool surface daily to remove leaves, debris, and bugs.
- Vacuum the pool at least once a week to remove dirt and sediment from the bottom.
Maintain Water Chemistry
- Test the water regularly to ensure the pH, chlorine, and alkalinity levels are within the recommended range.
- Adjust chemicals as needed to maintain proper water balance.
Winterize
- Properly winterize your pool by lowering the water level, draining pipes, and covering the pool to protect it from freezing.
